Armed manifestation to be removed as of Saturday

The Military Affaires Committee approved on Wednesday the withdrawal of military units and armed militias from the streets of the governorates as from Saturday 17 December 2011.

During a meeting chaired by Vice President and head of the committee Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi, the committee identified its tasks to be carried out in a week beginning from 17 December, including the return of military units of the Central Security and Police to their permanent camps and removing the military and armored vehicles, individuals and all armed manifestations from the streets.

The tasks also includes returning the armed tribesmen and militias to their villages and evacuating all government and private all facilities and locations, such as hotels, schools, buildings and streets, in addition to eliminating any military or armed locations created after January 2011.

The committee stressed the importance of all parties to oblige not to return to such locations again, whatever the reasons.

The committee will submit a follow-up report to the command and control main center at the Defense Ministry on the commitment and implementation level.
