Yemen officials: Saleh to depart for Oman

Yemeni officials say outgoing President Ali Abdullah Saleh will leave soon to Oman, en route to medical treatment in the United States. Washington has been trying to get Saleh out of Yemen — though not to settle in the U.S. — to allow a peaceful transition from his rule. However, there appear to be differences whether Saleh would remain in exile.

UN envoy to call on speeding up int'l aid to rebuild Yemen

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation revealed Wednesday that the ministry is preparing currently an urgent plan for economic recovery. During his meeting with UN envoy to Yemen Jamal bin Omar, Mohammed al-Sa'adi pinned hopes on a vital role to be played by UN to mobilize regional and international support to assist the National Reconciliation Government to meet the transitional phase requirements, overcome the political crisis's repercussions, restore the infrastructure and basic services and improve the citizens' living conditions.

Al-Sa'adi briefed the UN envoy on intention to re-list the development priorities included in the 4th five-year plan for economic and social development and poverty reduction in harmony with the requirements of the coming stage.

At least 20 people accused of spying for the United States were executed by suspected al-Qaeda militants in southern Yemen, a local tribal leader told the Kuwaiti newspaper As-Sayassa on Wednesday.

The chief of Yemen Republican Guards, Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, son of the Yemeni outgoing president and the deputy of national security, Saleh's Nephew, left the country today in mysterious circumstances since the uprising began last February.  Ahmed headed to the US where Ammar left to France.

Germany imposes asset freeze on Yemeni officials

Sahwa Net- Germany has imposed an asset freeze and travel ban on some senior Yemeni officials, Gulf media reports said. The reports said that some of those officials are receiving treatment in Berlin.
