two soldiers in what could signal the start of a power struggle just days after
autocratic President Ali Abdullah Saleh agreed to end his 33-year rule.
Main Points of GCC implementation mechanism
The Yemeni
President and the opposition leaders signed the GCC power-transfer deal and its
implementation mechanism on Wednesday in Riyadh.
The mechanism stipulates that a national unity government shall be formed within 14 days from the date of signature; the JMP to nominate a candidate who will chair the new-formed government; the ministerial portfolio should be divided on a fifty-fifty basis between the GPC and the JMP; forming a ministerial committee for security and defense affairs within 14 days chaired by Vice President and will have the tasks of restructuring and solving all matters related to the armed and security forces; the new-formed government shall form a ministerial committee to conduct dialogue with the youth in change squares and civil society organization; holding an early presidential elections within 90 days of signing the deal and Hadi shall be nominated as a consensus presidential candidate; the parliament to convene within 30 days and approve the immunity blank to President Saleh and all those worked under his office as stipulated in the GCC power-transfer deal.
The second phase of the implementation mechanism lasts for two years and it stipulates forming an inclusive national dialogue conference of all effective parties in Yemen, which will address all issues related to creating a new Yemen.

Yemen colonel killed as dissident tribesmen overrun base
A top Yemeni army officer was killed in battle between elite troops and dissident tribesmen who took over a strategic military base north of Sanaa, the defence ministry and tribal sources said Monday. "Colonel Abdulsalam al-Sufyani, head of operations of the Third Brigade" was killed in an attack on the brigade's base in Arhab, 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of the capital, defence ministry reported.

Most of the protesters have been given a boost in confidence at the sight of Libya's victory against its tyrant, wanting to believe that their turn will come next if only they hold on firm.

The Yemeni president is creating an energy crisis in the country to fend off international pressure to resign, an opposition leader said. Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has fought pressure to step down for much of the year. He's made repeated pledges to sign a political transition deal brokered by the Gulf Cooperation Council, however.

Yemenis celebrate Eid al-Adha
Tens of thousands of anti-regime protesters gathered in the capital Sana'a to mark the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha and to continue their protests against the long-time ruler Ali Abdullah Saleh. The Eid prayers was followed by a massive street demonstration with Youth protesters continuing their calls for the fall of the regime and the prosecution of all those involved in the killing of peaceful protesters.

Car 'driven into' Yemeni protest
Fifteen people were injured today, four of them critically, when a car was driven into a protest march in the Yemeni capital calling for president Ali Abdullah Saleh to be put on trial.
A witness saw the unmarked car careen into the crowd of tens of thousands who had marched past the town hall without obstruction from police there. Protesters said they believed the car had been driven by a Saleh supporter, whom they detained after attacking the vehicle and setting it on fire.

Report: Al-Qaeda militants attack Yemeni officials
Cairo - Al-Qaeda militants were believed to be behind an attack that targeted a member of Yemen's consultative council and an army colonel in the southern Yemeni province of Abyan, Arab media reported Thursday. The two men were wounded when their vehicle came under fire while they were heading towards the capital Sanaa, Doha-based Al Jazeera television said.

Nov. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Clashes in the Yemeni city of Taiz left seven people dead, as hundreds of thousands gathered in the capital, Sana’a, to urge the International Criminal Court to try President Ali Abdullah Saleh and members of his government.
The fighting between armed protesters and members of the Republian Guard in Taiz injured 21 people, activist Ahmed al- Wafi said today by phone from the southern city. Government forces shelled several areas with mortars and tanks, including a protest camp dubbed “Freedom Square,” he said.

Officials of Joint Meeting Parties Agree on Saleh new Proposal
In a meeting with U.S. Ambassador Gerald Firestein and ambassadors of the EU today, the Joint Meeting Parties discussed the new proposals made by President Saleh to find a way out of the Yemeni Current Crisis. The new proposal includes delegating Vice President Hadi to choose the prime minister of next government from the Joint Meeting Parties and calling for an early presidential election.
